Smile Bars at i-Orthodontics

Smile Bars are free-moving bars within sockets that are attached to the teeth. They provide rotational control of molars during treatment and can also help create space between teeth. At our clinics, we use Carriere Motion Smile Bars.

For patients with an overbite tendency, the bars are placed on the upper teeth with small brackets on a lower molar on each side. For those with an underbite tendency, they are positioned similarly on the lower teeth.

Smile Bars work hand in hand with elastics to gently guide your teeth into a healthier position. Sometimes, we might also use a clear, removable retainer on the lower arch to help share the pressure from the elastics more evenly across your lower teeth.

Early Orthodontics & Interceptive Treatment

Early orthodontic intervention can help children with developing conditions, minimizing the need for extensive treatment later. At i-Orthodontics, Smile Bars may be included in your child's initial orthodontic care.

The Benefits of Carriere Motion Appliance

Smile Bars (Carriere Motion Appliance) are used on kids and teenagers to help prepare for treatment using braces or Invisalign. They help correct molars and premolars that are not fitting together correctly.

Addressing these kinds of unhealthy bites is essential because, if left uncorrected, they can lead to significant wear on the teeth over time.

Smile Bars offer a similar effect to traditional orthodontic headgear, but they have a much lower profile.

Sometimes, incorporating Smile Bars can help reduce treatment time and might even help avoid the need for oral surgery down the line.
