Invisalign Clear Aligners for Kids & Their Developing Smiles
At our i-Orthodontics clinics in Lone Tree, Cherry Creek, and Aurora, we offer Invisalign First – a specially designed orthodontic option for children between the ages of 6 and 10 who are still growing their smiles.
Invisalign First not only straightens teeth but also gently expands the arches, supporting the healthy growth of your child’s mouth.
This treatment is used only when necessary for children with baby teeth. This helps to create space for adult teeth to come in properly, address specific functional issues, or correct crossbites.
Most children needing orthodontic treatment start their Invisalign treatment between ages 11 and 13, once all their permanent teeth have come in.
Consultations & Monitoring for Children
Children should visit the orthodontist for their first orthodontic consultation around age 7. This visit allows us to assess whether any orthodontic treatment is needed at that time.
The Invisalign Process at i-Orthodontics
Invisalign works by gently and consistently applying pressure to the teeth, gradually guiding them into their proper positions – comfortably and effectively.
Treatment involves a series of custom-made, clear aligners. Each aligner is worn until the desired amount of movement is achieved, then it's switched out for the next one in the series. This process is repeated until the teeth are aligned according to the tailored treatment plan.
How is Invisalign First Different?
Invisalign First is specially designed for younger patients, with smaller aligners that comfortably fit children's growing mouths and baby teeth.
It also includes an Eruption Compensation feature that allows the alignment to adjust as baby teeth fall out and adult teeth come in seamlessly.
Here are a few reasons why Invisalign First may be a great option for kids:
- No friction from metal brackets, making treatment more comfortable.
- Removable aligners make it easier for kids to brush and floss properly.
- No food restrictions, since aligners can be taken out while eating.
- Clear and discreet, which can be a big confidence booster for more self-conscious kids.
