A Conservative Approach to Children's Orthodontics
As your child grows, it’s normal for orthodontic issues to develop. That’s why scheduling an early orthodontic assessment is a great way to stay ahead – it helps identify any potential concerns early on and gives us a chance to monitor their smile as they grow.
We take a conservative approach to orthodontics for children, based primarily on monitoring growth and development. Intervention will occur only when absolutely necessary, typically in situations where the child has a narrow upper jaw, a crossbite, or when adult teeth are obstructed from properly emerging.
Getting an early orthodontic evaluation and treatment can be really helpful in tackling many of the common oral challenges that kids encounter as they grow – like speech and eating difficulties, snoring, teeth grinding, thumb sucking, and so much more!
At i-Orthodontics, we offer a range of options for our young patients, including jaw growth guidance with palatal expanders, Invisalign First, clear aligners, and traditional braces.
Consultations & Monitoring for Children
Children should visit the orthodontist for their first appointment around age 7. This visit allows us to assess whether any orthodontic treatment is needed at that time.
If treatment is needed, we’ll start with a personalized plan just for your child. If not, no worries – we offer free check-ups every 6 to 12 months to monitor their growth until your child is ready for comprehensive orthodontic care.
